Hartford Drywall Pros
The people behind Hartford Drywall Pros
Four crews, an owner who still comes out and does the quotes, and about two hundred and forty jobs a year around Hartford.
Four crews, one owner, and a yard in Hartford
You get the same person on the quote, on the first morning and on the walk round at the end.
Hartford Drywall Pros is a drywall contractor working out of a yard in Hartford, four crews and one owner, hanging and finishing houses here since 2007. The office is a phone that gets answered and a yard with board in it.
The four crews run two hangers and two finishers each, and they run separately so a one room repair does not sit waiting behind a gut renovation. Everybody on them is on our own books rather than picked up for the week, which is why the same faces are there on day four as on day one. Every crew works to the same specification, Level 4 as the floor and paper tape on every joint, so which crew shows up does not change what your wall looks like in five years.
What is the smallest job you would come out for? One cracked bedroom ceiling for a homeowner is a morning's work and we still come and look at it, and the largest last year was a twenty four unit block in Manchester, hung and finished floor by floor for the builder.

The man who comes out and looks at the wall
Ray Kozlowski — Owner, 19 years in the trade.
I started taping for my uncle's outfit in New Britain the summer I turned seventeen and I have not done anything else since. I went out on my own in 2007 with a van and a pair of stilts, and the first four years were nothing but repairs in three deckers around Frog Hollow. That is where I learned what these houses are actually made of, which is not what the drawings say.
My father was a plasterer and he would not let me near a joint until I could float an inside corner by hand, so I still hand sand every edge instead of running a pole over it and calling it done.
What I will not do is price a wall I have not opened. If somebody wants a number on the phone I will give them a range of days and nothing more, because I have been the second contractor on enough jobs to know what a guessed price turns into. I am on site most days, so ask me on the job rather than through an office.
Hartford Drywall Pros
Small repairs start inside two weeks, no matter how far out the big jobs are booked.
Hartford Drywall Pros hangs, tapes, finishes and repairs walls and ceilings across Hartford, in houses that range from new construction to pre-1940 plaster over lath. Four crews finish about two hundred and forty jobs a year, and a small repair usually starts inside two weeks even while a whole floor is booked further out. Trading here since 2007.
What nineteen years in Hartford's oldest houses taught us
- Nineteen years working pre-1940 lath and plaster, trading since 2007
- A screw goes into the wall before the quote, so we know board from plaster first
- Small repairs start inside two weeks, even when the big jobs are booked further out
- Nor'easters and ice dams are priced into how we protect a ceiling before we open it
- We prime what we finish, so you can actually see the work before we leave
If a wall has gone soft after a storm, an old ceiling needs opening up, or a room needs drywall from scratch, call (860) 847-8709 and somebody will come and look at it. We will tell you on that visit whether it is board or lath and plaster behind the surface, and the written quote follows the visit, never before it.
